REGENT’S PARK DUPLEX

London, 2017

In 2012, Hazel Collins Design was hired by a private client to refresh a duplex situated in Regents Park. This was a rather interesting project; they began with 3 beds and a bathroom and finished with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 ensuite) and a guest bathroom downstairs.

This redesign was catered specifically to a couple with a love for entertaining. They also wanted a backdrop for an impressive, contemporary art collection. During the process, the team implemented a clever little concept by adding sliding doors that could separately close off both the kitchen and the living/dining spaces so that the lady of the house could access the front door, upstairs, and the ground floor utilities room, guest bathroom etc, without being disturbed when say, the husband held meetings in the lounge area. This also meant that when entertaining, the delights of the kitchen could be kept hidden until the host and hostess wanted to make the ‘big reveal’ to their guests. Handy and rather understandable, don’t you think?

The team installed the doors so that both parties could enjoy and use the space as it was intended, at any time of their choosing!
